 Great for removing acidic etching from bird poop June 26, 2010

After a big bird dropping landed on my new car, I sprayed the offending matter off but did not bother to rinse thoroughly, leaving a marked streak on the finish. A few weeks later when I finally got around to washing the car, I find the streak is now permanent. The acid in the bird poop had etched into the clear coat. I could not feel the etching with my finger, but in the right light, the stain was clearly visible on my dark gray car. I tried re-waxing the area but no good. After some research, I bought this product locally and, wow, after a few minutes rubbing, the etching was gone. YAY!!

I have a black 2002 Trans Am that's my pride 'n joy. Some A-hole swiped their shopping cart against the passenger door this past winter, leaving 3 scuff marks about 6" long and up to 1/2" wide.
I tried a friend's polishing compound but it wasn't quite abrasive enough to burnish the scratches. After reading the reviews I ordered the Meguiar's scratch remover. Awesome stuff!! As another review mentions, scratches can't be "removed," only made to blend in and conceal them.
2 of the 3 marks are almost entirely invisible and the third (which was by far the worst), is nearly invisible too. From about 3' away even I have a very hard time finding them. I haven't waxed the car yet, but I'm betting that a good coat of wax will help even more.
I've always been very gentle on my paint, so I was worried about leaving swirl marks or other obvious signs that I had tried to hide a scratch. This stuff actually REMOVES swirl marks! The clear coat literally looks better in the area of the scratch than on the rest of the 8 year old paint. I'm tempted to go over the entire car with this stuff.
If you're picky about your paint job (and my friends would probably tell you that they don't know anyone more particular than me), you will be very happy with this product.

I got a sample a year ago and never tried it until the other day. I was able to get off all of these horrible marks and stains from my car.It was very easy. I almost paid lots of money to get a wax Thankfully I tried this first. My car is shiny and looks great. I love this product and the price is also really good.If you are thinking about it definetly give it a try.

I have a nasty key scratch on my car. The scratch is deep in some areas and light in others.
Scratch X was able to remove light scratches. Deep scratches were not affected. I was expecting more from the product.

I got this product for the very specific purpose of getting rid of very fine (like spiderweb) scratches on my motorcycle. If the scratches had been worse, I may have gone looking for something else. For my application, it worked great!
